With the start of the spring semester, the hangover of a long winter break persists. Coping with short days and cold weather, while also balancing the MBA curriculum and a personal life can be difficult. However, with school back in full session, one of the great solutions is to get back in touch with classmates. With cherry blossoms and good weather around the corner, there is a lot to look forward to. Oh yes, and there is basketball. There is Terps Basketball!
University of Maryland has historically been a strong basketball school. Led by legendary coach Gary Williams and with the likes of Juan Dixon, Steve Blake, Chris Wilcox and others, the Maryland Terrapins won the 2002 NCAA Basketball tournament.
With a proud history and a dedicated fan base, UMD basketball games are one of the best experiences for students. MBA students at the Robert H. Smith School of Business take advantage of going to the Xfinity Center within the College Park campus to attend Maryland home basketball games.
Trey Owens, a second year full-time MBA student concentrating in marketing, is a passionate basketball fan. “As a graduate student," he says, "going to basketball games is a great way to destress and connect with the University at large.” It's also a way to connect with classmates. “Going to basketball games gives me a chance to connect with classmates in a different way," he says. "Cheering on the Terps to a victory is a great way to end a busy day on campus.”
With the March Madness tournament starting in just a few weeks, University of Maryland students are hopeful that the Maryland basketball team will be 2020 NCAA Basketball champions!
